Initial Learning Environment Plan

Metaphor/Theme being used in the Learning Environment: use of "gustar" and verbs like "gustar"
Targeted grade level for the Learning Environment: ninth-grade, elementary spanish level 1
Initial idea of the overall goal for creating the Learning Environment: students will communicate likes/dislikes using the verbs "gustar", "encantar", "fascinar", "molestar", "caer bien/mal", "interesar", and "importar" with correct conjugations.
Sample QCC’s to be addressed in Learning Environment:
- express likes and dislikes, emotions, and agreement and disagreement.
- ask questions and provide responses based on topics such as self, family, and school, etc.
- initiate, participate in, and close a brief oral or written exchange.
- use formal and informal forms of address.
- demonstrate Novice-Mid Proficiency in oral and written exchanges with respect to proper pronunciation, intonation, and writing mechanics.
Initial ideas for activities:
- students will identify correct verb and verb tense used in sentences on handouts.
- in pairs, students will discuss likes/dislikes.
- in groups of four, students will create powerpoint presentations of their likes/dislikes using above verbs.
