Initial Reflection

While in this course, I hope to brush up on my computer skills as well as learn new programs that I may incorporate into the classroom. Being that the only time I have spent in the classroom was for observation; my level of experience is novice. The elementary classroom I observed did not have a lot of technological tools. The teacher used an overhead projector and kept roll/grades on a laptop provided to her by the county. The other technologies that I have been exposed to are power point and WebCT. I am a Spanish major here at GSU with a concentration in Teacher Certification and am eager to learn how I can incorporate technology into the foreign language classroom.
I have a limited knowledge of the classroom technologies available, so, this class will be a great asset to me. I am only familiar with the basics: Microsoft Office Suite, Corel Draw, Internet, and e-mail to name a few. To incorporate technology into the classroom is a great benefit to the students. As technologies become more advanced, we as educators are simply readying students for society. In the classroom, technology should be used as a supplement to lecture. Students learn differently and the use of different medias will ensure that everyone is reached.
